Since the inception of CD's...we have lost the precious opportunities of uncovering Zep's satanic messages because unlike albums, you can't play CD's backwards. Oh well.

This is the youtube presentation of satan trying to reach us through Stairway To Heaven. It's almost like a mashup!

What used to happen: people would have to buy three copies of Led Zeppelin IV which had Stairway To Heaven on it and by playing Stairway To Heaven backwards so many times, two copies would get ruined but that's okay because you had one clean copy left.

No wonder Zep sold so many copies of Led Zep IV.

Rock Hall Pre-Show Party

Many of the people performing at the Rock Hall Benefit Show rolled in a little early for the kick-off party at Deep South. Rick French introduced everyone on the stage and the Mayor of Cary spoke and so did Steve Luongo of the John Entwistle Band. I had interviewed John Entwistle before he died in 2003 and Steve Luongo was on the phone with him and I remember it being a particularly bad interview and I found out tonight that John Entwistle cannot hear at all and that's why Steve was on the interview with him...to tell him everything I said. I had no idea that was the case until Steve told me that tonight.

All the old radio people are coming to the Rock Hall Benefit Show this weekend at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary and the 'QDR and WRDU former DJ's are giving away tickets all week.

There's a private gala event with all the concert peformers attending Thursday night which could be pretty special...Steve Luongo of Mountain...Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane/Starship...Dave Mason of Traffic...Jack Bruce of Cream...Dennis DeYoung of Styx will all be there...the show is two nights this weekend and will be very special. This Hess on Capital Boulevard kept their gas prices at 3.68 all weekend through Hurricane Ike unlike most. Some stations were up to 4.89 around here...namely the one near the K-Mart in Garner. We dropped in to acknowledge. Of course...they bumped it up a touch today to 3.89 but...

Vince Young is a case. Of some sort. His Mom had said he was "hurting inside and out" because he had suffered a really bad football injury and plus...his home fans were booing him after he had thrown a 2nd interception last week. The story was he disappeared for 4 days when really, he was just "chilling out at home".

Remember he had done really poorly on the Wonderlic Test? The NFL gives that to prospective NFL players to see how well they can grasp complicated NFL offensive systems. Questions like these:

This song is done with a guitar on "Equinox" but originally it was done with piano as Dennis DeYoung explains in his visit to 96rock Monday afternoon. We replayed 4 of the songs he did today.

Really something.

The guy can still sing as good as he did in the day because, in his words..."He didn't smoke, drink or do drugs...plus...dumb luck". How do you not do THOSE things in the '70's????

He kept calling Foster "Bananas Foster" and he made references to "Switch" Blade. Foster likened him to a lounge singer and that was just not right. Something about a tip jar.

This guy is from here and he quit school to live the dream. Guitar Hero champ. He's heading to the U.S. National Tournament in LA in Otcober...we'll keep you posted on how he does.

We caught him at Raleigh Wide Open in his own booth promoting Guitar Hero.

He said Dragon Force music was the toughest stuff out there. And also one of the toughest was Charlie Daniels "Devil Went Down To Georgia" because his fiddle work is done as a guitar in Guitar Hero. Here Blake is doing "Cliffs Of Dover" fromn Eric Johnson. He said this was one of the hardest to do also-looks like he's doing pretty well here hahaha.

So do you spell Sarah with an "h" or not? We couldn't play the whole convention speech she threw out there because it was unbearably uncomfortable. We understand things like this can happen at inopportune times but the poor thing had it happen in her shining moment with a nationwide audience tuned in. Baaaaaad time for an outbreak of this nature.
